Trauma

Many people have traumatic experiences that can have a lasting impact, such as motor vehicle accidents, physical or sexual assault, war, natural disasters, and childhood abuse.

Common reactions to traumatic experiences include:

  • Nightmares

  • Flashbacks

  • Feeling unsafe

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Feeling “on guard” or “superalert”

  • Problems concentrating

While these are normal reactions, it is not normal for the symptoms to persist. There are treatments that are available to help.

Katrina specialises in the treatment of trauma and has extensive experience in treating individuals with trauma and complex trauma experiences. She has completed her PhD through University of Western Australia where her research focused on treatment of adults with childhood trauma-related post-traumatic stress disorder.
